Dr Greg McIntyre
Practice Owner/Manager
Dr Greg graduated from Melbourne University Veterinary School in 1974 and worked initially as a surgical intern locum at Melbourne University Veterinary Clinic and Hospital at Werribee before starting fulltime in mixed practice at Greensborough (then a semi-rural area). He returned to Greensborough in 1977, after two years as a missionary in Samoa.
In 1983 he purchased the long-established veterinary practice of Dr Owen Foote in High Street, Kyneton, living in a caravan behind the surgery. This auspicious start to his practice ownership career was followed rapidly by the destruction of his Renault12 in High Street overnight, the Ash Wednesday Bushfires and the birth of the first of five children.
The practice moved from High Street to Edgecombe Street and then to the former State Savings Bank building in Mollison Street. From the first year or so when Greg worked alone, the practice now includes Greg, five full-time and six part-time veterinary practitioners.
Greg worked for a semester as Practitioner in Residence for the faculty, mentoring final year students and also as an external examiner for a time. He obtained a Graduate Certificate of University Teaching from the Melbourne University Graduate School of Education. He was appointed as an Honorary Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences in 2009 as an Academic Associate of the University allowing the practice to act as a teaching location for veterinary students from Melbourne University The practice is also a Partner in Veterinary Education with Sydney University and accepts students from Veterinary Schools at James Cook and Queensland, Charles Sturt Adelaide and Murdoch Universities periodically. We regard this as an important contribution to the education of the new generations of veterinarians.
Dr Greg is a keen member of CFA and is currently serving as Captain in the Kyneton Fire Brigade. He is an endorsed trainer and assessor for the North-West Region, teaching the basic recruit course, Hazmat Awareness, Class A Foam, Thermal Imaging and Structural Firefighting.
Greg is General Manager and Director of the business, and continues clinical work as well as being the go to fix-it man for day to day problems as they arise.

Dr Jess Owens
Lead Veterinarian
Dr Jess joined the practice in 2007. She is a good all-round veterinarian, with a strong interest in internal medicine and intensive care / emergency medicine. She loves her surgery days and is very at home sitting cross-legged on the floor cuddling puppies and kittens.
In 2009 Jess did an intensive study course in Feline Medicine and in 2012 completed a course in diagnostics and internal medicine, both with the Centre for Continuing Veterinary Education at the University of Sydney.
Dr Jess is much sought after because of her depth and breadth of knowledge and experience, her patience and attention to detail and her commitment to her patients. When not at work she is usually busy with her dog and cat or exercising her formidable athletic and acrobatic skills.
