In order to help clients and patients with ongoing medication needs, we frequently are able to supply repeat medications for patients we have seen previously and made a diagnosis and recommended treatment. In some cases repeat prescriptions can also be provided for medications to be supplied by a registered pharmacist or compounding chemist.
To do this we need to review the patient history, check the medication is still appropriate and get and pack the correct medication and label according to legal requirements.
We need time to complete these tasks and from now on there will be a cut-off for medication requests for same day supply. Where urgent requests requiring expedited supply are received after the cut-off time an additional urgent medication fee will apply.
- Medication or prescription requests for same day supply must be with us by 11:00am. Requests after this time will be delayed until the following weekday.
- Generally no repeat medications are supplied on Saturday mornings due to there being only one veterinarian on duty. Requests received after 11am Fridays or on Saturday morning will be prepared on Monday.
- REMINDER - COMPOUNDED MEDICATIONS CAN TAKE A WEEK OR MORE TO BE RECEIVED AFTER ORDERING.
Wherever possible, please try to call at least a few days before you require your pet's medication to avoid running out.
Supply of prescription medications for patients where we have not examined the patient and established a diagnosis and need for the medication is illegal.
Veterinarians are not permitted under Victorian law to supply medications on prescription from another practice. Only a registered pharmacist is permitted to dispense prescription medications in this way.
