Native Animals

We are happy to provide assessment, triage and first aid to native animals during business hours free of charge. Advanced treatments will be at our discretion and may require the person requesting such to cover fees for the services requested. Native animals passed into our care are assessed and treated at our discretion. We endeavour to provide reasonable follow-up reporting, but the management of the animal remains with us in consultation with Wildlife Victoria and local licensed carers.

We encourage donations to our wildlife fund, which is used to pay costs for this service.

We are unable to provide services for native animals outside of office hours and clients should call Wildlife Victoria for assistance after-hours. Click here for Wildlife Victoria or call 03 8400 7300 24 hours a day.

Stray animals are the primary responsibility of the local municipality, in our case, usually Macedon Ranges Shire Council.

Click here for Council web-page. This provides advice for various situations involving stray animals.

Stray Animals

We can provide first aid for injured stray animals and will endeavour to contact owners for permission to treat where possible. Uninjured strays are the primary responsibility of the Council where they are found and should be reported to them.

Stray animals on roads (especially livestock) where there is a significant risk to people and vehicles should be reported to police via 000.

Donations to our Wildlife and Strays Fund are always welcomed and are used exclusively to defray expenses associated with this service.
